Remembering Robert Wadlow

Robert-Wadlow-with-Mother-wicker chairRobert Wadlow passed away on this date in 1940. When he died at age 22, he was the world’s tallest person at a height of 8 feet 11 inches – a record he still holds. Robert didn’t choose his situation, but his accomplishment was in how he handled it.

I recently contributed info for a How Stuff Works article about him. The author includes interesting details about gigantism, which contributed to his death.

I grew up in the same town as Robert, although decades after his death. I would have enjoyed meeting and getting to know Robert. You can learn more about him on my book page.
